Fabienne Micheli obtained a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Physiology of Plants by the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (France) in 2000, and made o post-doc in the INRA (France) in 2001-2002. She has been member of the Biological Science Evaluation Committee of the FAPESB (2009-2011) and Vice-Coordinator of the Post-Graduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology of UESC (PPGGBM, 2008-2010). She advises Master and Ph.D. students of the PPBBGM since 2003, and also supervises post-docs.

Interest in Research

As member of the permanent adviser group of the PPGGBM, she develops researches in molecular biology, biochemistry, OMICs (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics), and bioinformatics of perennial plants (cacao, cupuassu, and citrus). Actually, she coordinates and participates to various projects related to biotic stresses (cacao-Moniliophthora perniciosa interaction, cupuassu-Moniliophthora perniciosa interaction), abiotic stresses (drought in citrus), and fruit quality (citrus, cupuassu); these projects are granted by Brazilian (BNB, CNPq, FAPESB) and international development agencies (IFS, Cirad). Her main research lines are:


Genomics and gene expression in cacao


  • Functional studies of genes involved in biotic and abiotic stress responses
  • Proteomics and biochemistry of Moniliophthora perniciosa
  • Biochemistry, transcriptomics and proteomics related to fruit quality in citrus
  • Bioinformatics and systems biology (interactomics) for OMICs data integration
