Interest in Research

Research interests

I have studied conservation genetics of tropical tree species since 1997. My current research interest is focused on the understanding how neutral and under selection genes have influenced genetic diversity on agroforestry and fragmented forest systems, based on molecular markers (i.e. microsatellites and SNP) and next generation sequencing (NGS) technology. My research field has been Southern Bahia Atlantic Rainforest where my group and I studied population genetics of more than 12 forest tree species.



I’m the Molecular Markers Lab Coordinator from Biotechnology and Genetics Center, State University of Santa Cruz, Ilhéus, Bahia Brazil.


Student supervision

I advised 6 PhD students and 16 Master students. Currently, I advise 5 PhD students and 1 Master student.
